Nokia admits fault with new flagship phone

Nokia has formally admitted that there is a problem with their new Nokia N8 model, in response to complaints about a selection of devices automatically switching off and not switching back on again.

There have been a number of complaints from Nokia N8 owners in terms of this power issue, and Nokia have now officially acknowledged this problem.

Nokia’s Executive VP Niklas Savander explains in a video interview on Nokia’s blog page, that although this is a very small fault, Nokia appreciate that this is will be very annoying. Another spokesperson said that the problem will have been created at production stage of the phone and this has now been fixed.

In addition to this, reviews have described the Nokia N8 user interface, operation and overall user experience as pretty poor and years behind its competitors. Its feature list is not overly exciting, mimicking that of the Sony Ericsson that was released a year ago. Perhaps since the release of the iPhone, HTC and BlackBerry, users expectations have dramatically increased.

It’s not all bad as in the N8 has been reasonable well received by other users. With a 12 megapixel camera and 720p HD Video, Nokia have promoted their new release by making a short movie with it - “The Commuter” featuring Slumdog Millionaire’s Dev Patel as the Commuter who shows off how good the phone is, and include actors Pamela Anderson, Charles Dance and Ed Westwick.

Nokia are not alone with issues of this kind of course. Apple’s iPhone4 had problems with antenna not picking up signal, but the mobile and smartphone market is so buoyant that manufacturers are still making great progress.
