iPhone 18: Price, Release Date, and Feature Rumours

24 June 2026

Rob

The iPhone rumour cycle doesn’t really have an off switch. It slows briefly, then starts humming away again just when everyone is getting used to their current device. It’s relentless!

Predictably, attention is already shifting toward the iPhone 18. Nothing is confirmed at this stage, but fortunately there’s enough credible chit-chat to give us a sense of where Apple could be heading next.

Will this be the one with a cleaner, more seamless display? Will on-device AI finally feel genuinely useful in day to day life? And do we think it could be worth the upgrade?

Here’s what the most reliable rumours are pointing toward so far for the iPhone 18:

At a glance

  • Release date: 18th September 2026, although some models could arrive later.
  • Price: From around £799, with Pro and Fold models costing much more.
  • Design: A cleaner display, smaller Dynamic Island and more refined Pro models.
  • Features: Better AI, improved cameras, faster performance and stronger efficiency.

iPhone 18 Release Date

Apple tends to stick closely to its usual schedule with the yearly flagship iPhone releases, and there’s no strong indication that’s about to change.

A September 2026 launch window is still, as always, the most likely outcome, with the announcement likely landing on the Tuesday around the second week of September. If Apple follows its usual pattern, pre-orders would open later that week, with devices arriving in shops shortly after.

Based on that, we think we’ll see the following:

  • iPhone 18 announcement date: Tuesday 8th or 9th September 2026
  • iPhone 18 release date: Friday 18th September 2026

There are also theories swirling about a staggered release of a wider range of handsets, with the Pro models arriving first in September, followed by the iPhone Fold in December, then the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 in March 2027, perhaps planned in an attempt to steal some of the thunder from Samsung’s Galaxy S27 launch. Cheeky!

iPhone 18 Price

If you’re hoping for a sudden drop in price, it’s probably best not to get your hopes up.

There aren’t any firm figures yet, but some analysts expect Apple to hold or slightly increase pricing, especially on higher storage tiers due to rising component costs. Booo!

Based on current trends and early predictions, here’s a rough guide***:

  • iPhone 18: £799 to £949
  • iPhone 18 Pro: £1,099 to £1,299
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max: £1,199 to £1,399
  • iPhone Fold: £1,800 to £2,200+
  • iPhone Air 2: £999 to £1,149

That would land every version of the new iPhone firmly in or beyond standard flagship territory. We don’t foresee another mid-range SE release anytime soon either, so it might be time to start saving some pennies if you’re looking for an Apple upgrade in the next 12 months.

iPhone 18 Design

If you’re expecting a dramatic visual overhaul, the current rumours suggest this might be more of a refinement year.

Most reports point to Apple continuing to polish its existing design rather than introducing something completely new.

The biggest area of focus is the front of the phone.

There are ongoing rumours that Apple is working to move more of the Face ID system under the display. Not all of it, though. The more realistic expectation for the iPhone 18 is a smaller cutout or reduced Dynamic Island, rather than a fully uninterrupted screen.

Elsewhere, Pro models are expected to stick with premium materials like titanium, possibly with further tweaks to reduce weight.

Apple is also thought to be exploring ways to make the rear camera module less prominent, which would be a welcome change for anyone tired of the phone not sitting flat on a table, although that remains a difficult balance for them to strike with all the incredible tech they manage to shoehorn into these devices.

So overall, think cleaner and more refined design, rather than radically different.

iPhone 18 Features: What’s New?

Much of the conversation around the iPhone 18 centres on how Apple continues to develop its approach to AI.

Rather than big headline grabbing features, the focus is expected to be on making everyday tasks smoother and more intuitive.

Possible improvements include:

  • A more capable Siri that can handle more complex, multi-step requests
  • Smarter photo and video editing powered by on-device processing
  • Improved real-time translation
  • More context-aware suggestions across apps and the system

Powering this will almost certainly be a new A-series chip, widely expected to focus on both efficiency and AI performance.

Battery life should also benefit from these efficiency gains, rather than from larger batteries.

On the camera side, there are some particularly interesting rumours.

Apple is said to be exploring automatic variable aperture technology for Pro models, which I’m sure you’ll agree, sounds very fancy. Long story short, it would improve how the camera lens on the Pro models handles light, delivering better images even in tricky lighting scenarios.

There are a couple of less visible upgrades worth noting too.

Apple is expected to continue developing its in-house modem, with a next-generation version, often referred to as a “C2” modem, likely to improve both connectivity and efficiency. There are also early rumours that satellite features could expand beyond emergency use, although the latter theory remains highly speculative.

It’s also worth noting that many of the more advanced upgrades are expected to be focused on the Pro models, with standard models likely seeing a more modest set of changes. That’s not to say the standard handset won’t be a big upgrade on the 17, but just that the jump between last year’s Pro models and this year’s equivalents could be even bigger.

Final Thoughts: One to Watch?

The iPhone 18 isn’t shaping up to be a dramatic reinvention, but it could still be an important step forward.

A cleaner display, more useful AI features, and steady improvements across performance, camera, and battery life could make it a very well-rounded upgrade.

We’re hoping for the kind of shift we saw between the iPhone 14 and 15 models, where the move to USB-C, along with improvements to the camera and materials, noticeably improved the overall experience.

The handsets will be expensive, but if Apple gets the details right, this could be one of those quietly impressive updates that people hold onto for years.
